Just a few days from 4th of July BBQs and backyard gatherings and you may be looking for some patriotic food to fit the bill. These red, white and blue strawberries are showy (in other words, they look fancy but they are super easy to make.) We found that even little hands are capable and eager to help make these beauties.
1 cup white chocolate chips
18-20 medium sized strawberries, washed and dried with steps intact
blue or patriotic sprinkles
Set aside your washed and dried berries. They must be dry or the chocolate will not stick! In a double boiler, melt the white chocolate chips until smooth. Place the sprinkles in a small bowl. Transfer the white chocolate to a narrow, deep dipping bowl or cup. Hold each berry gently by the green stem and dip it 3/4 of the way into the white chocolate. Dip a second time for a thicker coating of chocolate. Then, dip the tip of the berry into the sprinkles. Set on a rack while you are working. Transfer the berries into refrigerator to help the chocolate harden. You can make these a day ahead.
Note: white chocolate melts fast so don’t bring these out into heat or sun until you are ready to serve them.
